Better together - exploring new perspectives for alternative living arrangements

An international workshop at the Volkshochschule Tübingen from 31.7. - 8.8.2010. (start time rescheduled!)

Collaborative forms of housing are frequently debated as an alternative to single-family homes.

This trend has been triggered by a global process that will have inevitable consequences on the way people live. Due to demographic changes, the number of elderly people is growing and traditional family structures are dissolving, while the economic situation means that people are less able to finance their own home. As a result of these developments, there is a lack of daycare facilities for people starting a family and insufficient structures to offer assistance for elderly people who need long-term care. Furthermore, it is increasingly difficult for people with a migration background to integrate into society due to a lack of suitable living arrangements.

What are the alternatives? How can the current housing situation be changed? These are the questions we want to adress in this workshop.

The workshop is funded by the EU. For citizens from the 27 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey the workshop and accomondation in Tübingen is free of charge. Additionally travel expenses up to 300 Euros are refunded.

Participants from Germany are welcome to the workshop, but they are excluded from EU funding. They have to pay an attandance fee of 250 Euros, accomodation not included.
